He’s Using A Community Scholarship To Help Pursue His Dream Career
Justin Ramsey, a second-year student from Thief River Falls, MN, was recently awarded the 2018 TRF State of the City Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded annually to an NCTC student who has demonstrated excellence and commitment to academics. To be eligible for this scholarship award, a student must be a high school graduate of Lincoln High School. Funding for this scholarship is raised by community members during a raffle at the annual TRF State of the City Address & Social. All proceeds from the raffle go towards funding the scholarship opportunity for the following year. In receiving this scholarship Justin is thankful that he will be able to focus more of his time and effort on his coursework to enhance his educational experience. As graduation approaches, he is looking forward to pursuing his dream career in the exciting field of digital marketing.
“I originally chose NCTC because I was raised in Thief River Falls and it is where my mom went to college. But it was the assistance I received from the Inter-County Community Council program that really helped me with narrowing in on my career aspirations. They guided me through the process of discovering career areas I may be interested in based on my skills and then helping me with choosing a program and college. I found I am strong in technology and computers, as well as numerically inclined and artistic. My adviser pointed out a program at NCTC that best matched my skill set … which was the Digital Marketing program. After doing my own research on the digital marketing career field, I chose that as my major and found Northland was truly the best fit for me.”
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the NCTC Foundation and City of Thief River Falls for awarding me this scholarship.
“The State of the City Scholarship is helping with funding some of my education expenses … everything from books to tuition. The scholarship has really helped with allowing me to focus more on my coursework and less on my part-time job. I can allocate more time on my schoolwork and less time on work to procure the financial resources needed to pay for school. This has allowed me to be more confident as I go through school and into my chosen career field. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the NCTC Foundation and City of Thief River Falls for awarding me this scholarship.”
“I will be graduating this May with my Associates in Digital Marketing and Digital Marketing Certificate. During my final semester, I’m going to continue to work hard and hopefully accomplish my goal of graduating with high honors. After graduation, I hope to find a career in marketing … specifically the field of digital marketing.”
“My dream career is to be a marketing manager. I feel Northland has really helped me on my path to achieving this dream by giving me the tools and the knowledge necessary to enter into this highly competitive and growing field. The use of the internet is rapidly growing, even more so with the progressive use of cell phones, so the need for digital marketing and digital marketers will continue to be a high demand growing career field.”
Everything about digital marketing is very exciting to me. It’s the future of marketing and I can’t wait to enter into this rapidly growing career field!
“I attended a career fair earlier this semester and talked with many local businesses that had exciting opportunities I would like to pursue. I would really like to be part of a team that gets to market a new product … a product that has never been released before. I think it would be astonishing to be a part of something that started off as an idea, developed into an actual product, and seeing that product unveiled to the public. To one day say I was a part of a new product’s journey from concept to launch would be extremely satisfying. I also really enjoy other aspects about Digital Marketing, from on-site optimization, to creating ad and email campaigns, doing market research, engaging in social media marketing … just everything about digital marketing is very exciting to me. It’s the future of marketing and I can’t wait to enter into this rapidly growing career field!”
“Ideally I would like to be located in a town where there are good schools and good nursing opportunities. I say this because my fiancé will be completing her nursing degree at Northland next year. I also have two wonderful step kids who I would really like to see grow up in a progressive area where they can get a great education and the same opportunities that I received.”
